Our Story
Sea to Sky Siberians is a small sled dog team based on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria. My name is Courtney and, together with my partner West, enjoy the craziness that is life with a team of Siberian Huskies!
I am originally from BC, Canada and started working with Siberian Huskies when I was 15 years old. It wasn’t long before I started showing in conformation and in 2011 welcomed my first litter, under the prefix Vanaca - derived from combining Vanna and Cash, the names of my first two Siberians. I genuinely enjoyed showing my dogs to their championships, and along the way picked up multiple Best in Specialty Shows, group wins and placements, and a Best in Show with Tazo.
However, what really won me over with the breed was working with them in harness. It is hard to describe just how much the dogs love to run, and it is a wonderful way to spend time with them and to prove that they are capable of performing the job they were bred for. I mainly run in 4-dog sprint, both dryland and on snow. I also was given the opportunity to run a mid distance race - The Silver Sled - which is 100 miles through some spectacular Yukon Territory scenery. It was a privilege to work with Cindy Baker-Hawkins’ team (Ravenhawk Siberian Huskies) - many of whom you will find in my bred-by section or are direct descendants from them!
In 2016 I moved to Australia, bringing with me - on the same flight even - my current team of dogs. We still enjoy the racing scene here in Australia and are actively involved with the Siberian Husky Club of Victoria. Due to logistical difficulties between kennel clubs, we opted to use the prefix Seatosky (Sea to Sky) as we live in a lovely beach side town and race up in the mountains. Not only that, the Sea to Sky Highway near my hometown is the most stunning drive in the world!
